Victoria and her kimono is about a teacher who is too influence by western culture. Mr. Ramanan is a form one English teacher at Victoria Institution. He even changes his wife’s name from Vickneswari to Victoria. His wife does not approve with his attitude. Mr. Ramanan should not forget about his culture because his culture reflects of whom he is and he should learn to adapt to the situation. For example, when the Japanese took over, he asked his wife about the purpose she learned Japanese and wears kimono.Basically, Victoria and her kimono saved Mr. Ramanan’s life from being executed by the Japanese soldiers who are looking for those who teach English in Malaya. It was his wife who saved him from them with the skills that she learned, and he should learn the lesson from his wife.
